The Community Playbook

How to build a visible, trusted, and actively followed presence on GameChangers.

🌟 What you’ll achieve

By the end of this playbook, you will have 25+ followers, a profile that surfaces in mission search, contributions in at least 2 Community Spaces, and your first incoming invitation from someone who found you organically.

Before you start — you’ll need:
A complete GameChangers profile with at least 3 verified credentials
Explorer tier or higher (free)
15 minutes per day for the first 2 weeks
The 6 Steps
1
Complete your profile to 90%+
Owner: You · Est. 20 min

A complete profile is the single highest-leverage action you can take in the first week. Every incomplete field is an application you don’t receive.

Add a professional headshot — profiles with photos receive 8× more engagement
Write your bio as an outcome statement: “I help [type of mission] achieve [result] by [method]”
Connect at least 3 external credentials: LinkedIn, ORCID, GitHub, SAM.gov, or Kaggle
List 8–12 skills using the canonical taxonomy — avoid jargon that wouldn’t appear in a mission brief
Done when: Profile strength ≥ 90%. Trust Score ≥ 350. At least 3 external credentials verified.
2
Follow 25 people in your atomic network
Owner: You · Est. 15 min

Your “atomic network” is the 50–100 people whose missions and expertise directly overlap with yours. Following them creates a two-way discovery loop — they’ll see you in their follower list.

Search by sector, compliance credential, or skill cluster — not just title
Follow people whose Trust Score is above 400 and who have completed at least one mission
Follow organizations as well as individuals — org followers receive your mission updates directly
Done when: 25 people followed. At least 5 followers gained in return within 48 hours.
3
Join 2 Community Spaces and contribute
Owner: You · Est. 30 min

Community Spaces are where reputation is built before contracts are signed. Ask a real question. Answer one. That’s it for week one.

Your first post should ask a genuine question, not announce yourself — questions generate more connection than introductions
Use the “Ask a Peer” category to get indexed answers others can find later
Respond to at least 2 existing threads before posting your own — this is how you get noticed
⌴ Decision point
Are you better at answering technical questions or asking strategic ones? Answer-first if you have deep expertise. Question-first if you’re exploring a new domain. Both build reputation equally well over time.
Done when: Posted in 2 Spaces. Received at least 3 upvotes or replies. Profile linked from at least 1 discussion.
4
Publish one public signal per week
Owner: You · Est. 20 min/week

A “public signal” is any piece of professional work you make visible on the platform: a case study, a dataset, a playbook contribution, a mission outcome summary.

Case studies outperform status updates 10:1 in follow conversion — “here’s what I built and what I learned” is the format
Datasets and playbook contributions earn automatic community credits and badge progress
A 3-paragraph case study is enough — quality over frequency, always
Template
What I worked on: [brief description] What made it hard: [specific challenge] What I learned: [insight others can use] What it produced: [measurable outcome]
Done when: 1 public signal per week for 4 weeks. At least 10 upvotes or saves total across all signals.
5
Host or attend a Get-to-Know session
Owner: You + Peer · Est. 30 min

Get-to-Know sessions are the platform’s “coffee chat” mechanism — a low-stakes async intro before any mission commitment. They build real relationships at scale.

Initiate a Get-to-Know with anyone whose work you find interesting — not just potential collaborators
Use the 3-question default library to reduce friction: your opener sets the tone
Respond to all incoming Get-to-Know requests within 48 hours — your response rate is public
Done when: 2 Get-to-Know sessions completed (1 sent, 1 received). Connection request sent to at least 1 session partner.
6
Invite 3 peers with personalized messages
Owner: You · Est. 10 min

Referrals are the highest-quality growth channel. Every verified, active peer you invite earns community credits redeemable for platform fee discounts.

Personalize every invitation: name the specific reason you thought of them
Send to people who would genuinely benefit — not to everyone in your LinkedIn connections
Track your referral link in Profile Settings → Referrals
Template
Hi [Name], I’ve been using GameChangers for the past [time] and thought you’d find it useful given your work on [specific area]. The platform verifies credentials, connects you to funded missions, and has a community of verified STEM professionals. Happy to answer questions. [Your referral link]
Done when: 3 invitations sent. At least 1 accepted and completed profile setup. Referral credits earned.
